Imagine Earth is a real-time planet simulation and a build up strategy game. Your job as a space colony manager is to explore and populate distant planets. David Wallace-Wells’s book, expanding on his viral article in New York magazine, is a lushly written look at the “climate chaos” that will increasingly take over our lives.
Imagine Earth is a real-time planet simulation and a build up strategy game. Your job as a space colony manager is to explore and populate distant planets. Build up thriving and profitable colonies on a global scale and trade resources and goods into space. Deal with allies, threats and enemies.is 20% off right now, and i'm thinking of buying it. It has been in my steam wishlist for close to 2 years.
It seems to check off the boxes on games i enjoy, but looking for feedback from anyone here who has it currently. It went into EA 4 years ago but still seems to get monthly updates. Update #44 released today actually. Yeah Imagine Earth is actually pretty good. Only have 20 hours in it, but that's steam screwing up because I played it for a few weeks solid, actually. I havent touched it too recently though. There were a few unintuitive things about the UI and tech/research/contract trees, but after a little while I figured it out.
I like the artstyle. Kinda reminds me of an old PS1 game or 80's anime but brought to modern day. The gameplay is fun and offers interesting challenges. The scenarios are plentiful and I still havent finished them. Although I had to repeat a couple many times because hoo-boy i was too prideful to turn down the difficulty.I'd say 15.99 is a good price for what it offers. I started playing it again two days ago.
It has come a long way, but there are some minor gripes I have with it.Positives:. very diverse gameplay, lots of things to do.
dynamic feeling map, lots of things can happen, everything seems to influence each other. Good campaign tutorial. Pretty graphics, good audio for the most partNegatives:. Notifications are hard to follow. I had for example a nuclear reactor blow up and not realized it until much later. Only seems to give you sound queues and they aren't very unique. I'd much rather have an event log than an audio notification.
very mouse intensive game. The WASD keys and surrounding ones are used for hotkeying buildings. I'd much rather use WASD area for camera control, as buildings I can deal with the right mouse click and selecting them.
My mouse hand hurts playing it. The music is very repetitive currently. Icons can be very small and hard to decipher. Not sure how to get help about what they mean (most of them I figured out, but some are so small, I have no idea. Scaled up UI doesn't seem to scale icons).
The sweeping changes that occurred at the turn of the 20th century in China are brilliantly depicted by an author who witnessed them firsthand. Readers get a vivid picture of the lives of poor farmers, and their relationships to the land, their emperor, and each other, and the beginnings of modernization that would lead to the 1949 revolution.
The social traditions that oppressed women, from foot-binding to arranged marriages and subservience to husbands, are explored in an eloquent, moving manner.
